  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

lea (biscandmatt1) has just text me, matt is poorly, and has gone downhill quickly :( not eating, drinking or moving, she is rushing him the the vets now :( i hope she doesnt mind me doing this thread but i thought we could all give him some vibes that he recovers quickly. Giving my vibes now, come on matt! have some noms! i hope lea is ok too :( xx

just got a update, matts in stasis, she is coming home with him soon to start the recovery food, fingers crossed that matt gets through stasis quickly and painfree xx

course i don't mind. thank you. x

we are home now and matt is in his corner resting. i have offered him food and he has done really well and eaten a few leaves and a bit of coneflower, his favourite.

he's looking very sorry for himself and it was an awful rush to get to the vets :(

he's had strong painkillers, fluids, and something to work along side that.

we have recovery food, maxolon, zantac and metacam to use at home. the vet thought he would be best with us at home but we are to go to the emergency vets should he get worse.

:(

xx

i keep going between this thread and the other about the recovery food... but he wouldn't take much of the food. he's eaten a bit of thyme o/h offered him.

i picked him up and he didn't even bother. he has no energy.

i'm so scared

Aww noooo. :( Are you syringing fluids? I always found that much more important/effective in a case of stasis than anything else.
