Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Annual stasis

Pixsmudge

Young Bun
I was wondering if this was possible? End of last year I wasn't even back 2 days from Turkey when Smudgie went into stasis again. Barely a week before I was due to fly to Florida for almost a month in 2009 she had her first stasis episode.

Both episodes were in September, not too far apart by date really, and I'm curious as to whether this is going to be an annual thing, or if she's simply responding to my worried depressed state before I leave.

Could it be the sudden shift in temperature? Does anyone else have similar problems?

The first time she'd been dozing under the dining room table all day, and the second time she ran and hid under bushes in the garden and I couldnt get her out at all easily! I don't really have much of an idea anymore so I wondered what you all thought :)

Thank you

I don't know tbh but hopefully it's just an unfortunate coincidence. Joejoe had stasis this time last year but it was caused by something he'd eaten beign stuck in the roof of his mouth but this year I have no idea why :? It's also almost exactly a year to the day too, it;s like it;s now his annual holiday to costa del dewsbury animal hospital  I am going to be dreading next January...

Hope Smudgie is ok this September
