As some of you know I am hoping to improve Spenser's set-up by eventually having a more stable attached run made. What do you call the type of mesh that is required? Are some woods better for others?

Galvanised weld mesh:

Or you can buy it on a roll but getting it flattened is a challenge!

Should be fitted to the frame using a powered staple gun or proper weld mesh tacs like these: http://www.screwfix.com/prods/17167/Nails/Galvanised-Nails/Galvanised-Staples-2-00-x-20mm-0-5kg-Pack

I believe tannalised wood is best but if you're having someone make it for you they should be able to advise :)

I always buy our weld mesh from animal kingdom on ebay, great price and super fast delivery.

We buy our wood from b and q or wicks and get 6ft or 8ft lengths that are 1 1/2 " across.

All our runs are painted in cuprinol garden shades

More useful info, thanks - I just need to pick my moment and delicate drop the subject into converstaion.;)

Or you could just arrange for it to be made and when they're next out (looking for a new suite) have it delivered and be ready with the "Surprise!":D:wave: when they return :lol:

If all else fails they are going away for a week in February.... I'm rather hoping to have it long before then. Watch this space - I could be picking my moment at lunchtime today as I would rather do it with consent than not.

i'm just wondering as I don't use them. Will the hutch cover you have ordered still fit if the hutch has an attached run?

Oh blimey, good point ... I will bear this in mind and put things on hold until the cover comes. I do need to improve the set-up though, if there is to be a possibility of at some stage getting a partner for Spenser. Plus, we are bothered by crows and seagulls about here, and I would like him to have access to the run when we are out. Better hold my horses until the hutch-hugger comes.

Yes you had! I'd forgotten about that too, well done Liz ;)

You can still think about things though, get an idea of costs etc. It may be that if the hugger has zips down each side you can just zip it down to half way and the bottom section of the hugger sits on top of the run lid? If that makes sense?! :?
