  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bunny Savvy Vet Please - Derby

thanks loads thats great, i will give them a call and request Lizette. Need to sort out transport first but shouldnt be too hard x

Not sure where you are but I am half way between Derby & Nottm. I go to Ashfield house in Long Eaton - Directly on the R5 trent bartons bus route. look at 'ashvets.co.uk' They also have branches at Spondon (no idea where) or Bramcote - R4 bus route from Derby. I like John Oleshko but I find all the vets there excellent. Not the cheapest practice but I wouldnt go anywhere else.

If you can get to either Alfreton or Matlock (good train service to Matlock) then Alfreton small animal surgery or Peak Vetinerary surgery in Matlock are both excellent. For the Matlock one you need to speak to the owner or the Irish chap there (i can't remember his name off the top of my head) however both are very bunny savvy. I've made a note of the Alfreton surgery as one of the EV's at Matlock wasn't filling me with much confidence but the OOH vet at Alfreton gave a free 15 minute phone consultation (even though we weren't registered there).

We used the Scarsdale group when our bun Twitch was sick. It was an emergency visit, but the vet we had was very knowledgeable and also had her own buns - if I remember right, her name was Sarah(sorry, I don't remember a last name)

We went to the one on Kedleston Road
