Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Infacol v Gripe Water

Blackberry & Co

Wise Old Thumper
Hi, I've read in various places about using Infacol if you think your bunny has wind. Clover sometimes needs a tummy rub, and I've not yet tried Infacol. Is Gripe Water the same thing (cos I keep that in for when I need it )

How much of either would you give a nethie?

Thank you

i prefer gripe water its not as thick and gooey as infacol. not sure about the dose tho without reading the bottle. i think i usually try to get 1-2ml into Alvin

I just want to know it's safe to use - I'd hate to give the boys something that was bad for them.

Clo had a bit of wind this morning - he wouldn't eat his breakfast, but his nanny gave him some tummy rubs, and he ran up and down the settee a few times. I had been on the point of phoning for a vets appointment, but then we tried him with strawberry leaves (his new favourite) and he scarfed the lot and then moved onto his pellets  I was tempted to try him with the gripe water, and will probably give him a little next time he's got a bit of belly ache. :)
