  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Losing fur......and a dirty chin.

yvette

Wise Old Thumper
Its Lily Shane.
She seems to be losing fur under her front armpits and along her chest.,
All I can think of is that shes hormonal and pulling but no fur in her room.
Any ideas please??

Also her chin has a hard bit of fur clumped, due to her medicine...(Im no good at giving it unless I have help,:roll:)...
How do I clean it of?? I dont want to snip it.....
Thanks again.

She may have ingested the fur.
Is she spayed ?

You can clean her mouth using cooled boiled water and a cosmetic-type cotton wool pad :)

Shes not speyed.....several reasons why not.Chronic snuffles mainly but not a healthy bunny by all means.Any other thoughts,Jane or just that??
Did think of the water and cotton wool......brain having delayed reaction!!!:oops::oops:

Hmmm.Just as long as its nothing else more sinister. She has enough to deal with poor wee girl.
Will talk more with Ian but both of us are loathe to spey her as her lungs arent clear currently.
Part of her lung tissue goes up into her kyphosis aswell.
I can see her skin where the fur has gone.....:(
