Does anyone use groundsheets underneath runs to prevent burrowing??

Anyone considered using groundsheets under runs? I have no grass in some of my run areas now as it's been eaten or dug up. I don't mind filling in holes, but i was just wondering if anyone uses plastic or other groundsheets with hay over as a base? I just noticed you can get them for about £10.I know alot of people have concrete, which i do, but i don't have it on this particular part of the garden and want to make sure they are not burrowing out of the runs when i'm not there. I do have an enclosed garden, but i'm still concious of this.

at my old house i had a larg pen that my 3 girls used to dig out from so my mum put mesh down on the grass then left is for a couple of weeks so the grass grew through so it was nice under foot and you couldnt see the mesh it it was like that for 10 and no one managed to get out :)

i tried mesh but it didn't seem to fit right :~( maybe i need someone else to sort it for me ! i'm rubbish at this kind of thing. diy etc.

maybe not the cheapest option but lay a patio then turf over it-make sure the slabs protrude beyond the perimeter-sue
