  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Just been to the vets...

Alpha Buck
I took my bunny to the vet today because I thought she felt a bit gassy and had a slightly decreased appetite but the vet said she didnt feel especially gassy but she gave an injection and I have been sent away with some fibreplex and metoclopramide. Since then I have noticed some extra large poops strung together in the litter tray, some caecals and some smallish pellets.

Why is this happening to her? I just don't understand. She went into stasis post spay (2 months ago) and now it is happening again. She only gets 2 tablespoons of pellets a day and the rest hay and some veg. I feel like I am constantly worrying and obsessing about things that are wrong with her and I just don't know what to do anymore to keep her healthy :(

She is moulting slightly, not a really a full moult though and she has never had these problems before with moulting. I am wondering if it is her teeth - the vet said she could see some tiny spurs at the back of her mouth but obviously she couldnt really get a proper look.
