  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

What is the youngest a bunny can be...

8 weeks for myxi, 10 weeks for vhd. Any earlier and it wont be effective as they still have antibodies from their mum (one of mine got vhd done at 8 weeks as there was a suspected case of it, and she had to have it redone a month later due to it being given early). The 2 injections must be at least 2 weeks apart

Neutored iv heard is as son as their testes drop- which varies with each rabbit, although my vets waited until my male was 5 months as he was a small mini lop- i think it can be more risky having ops at early ages especially when theyre small for their breed. I think people get it done around 3-4 months normally however.

Females its normally 5-6 months old for spaying

Thank you everyone, I mainly had Smudge in mind who is 12 weeks so he can begin having his injections now :thumb:. What about Panacur? What's the youngest one can give that?
