  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fleas and Revolution.

How long is it going to take to kill these fleas???????????
I am a mess over my 10 year old rabbit getting them for the first time and a quick trip to the vet...............I cant sleep.

It has been a very bad year for fleas on all animals. My dogs had them for the first time this year. I spent £33 on spot on but thought " never mind - that'll do it" but no! Then I got the spray to spray the house (£18) - " surely this'll do it" but no!! Then I bought Frontline spray - £32 - and still the b****rs are scratching!!! Same with the cats. Vet says I must have missed spraying somewhere in the house!! What can You say.

Not sure if the ' room ' spray can be used in a hutch - I know Frontline must NEVER be used on rabbits so beware before trying this.

Thrown away the can or I would check. Fleas on dogs and cats don't actually live on the animal so it will be the same on rabbits. They could be in the hay...on the floor...anywhere. They just jump onto the animal to feed then jump off and go away and breed!!!

Damned nuisance!!!
