Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

sticky poo's

Hi guys

Sorry for to much info.

Adopted Charlie on Saturday. He is appx 6-7months old. He came with a supply of his food - Waggs. Most days he has done some squidgy sticky poos. Is also doing the normal ones, seems to be eating OK - not a huge eater but likes his hay. Tried him on greens, but I thought that might have made his tummy poorly so stopped it. He is running and hopping around his run as we speak with lots of hops and skips so he is looking full of energy.

Any ideas on this??

It could be 1 of a few things but the way I would tackle it as he likes is hay is to reduce the amount of pellets if you are feeding more than an egg cup full a day. If you are only feeding a few every day then cut the pellets out completely and just feed hay until the sticky poos stop. You can then slowly introduce veg. Once you have found out which veg he can tolerate try a different brand of pellets. Favourites in this group tend to be Supreme Science Selective and A+P.
