  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Does anyone know of a rabbit savvy vet in east ayrshire?

I'm not sure speckle's receiving the right treatment from our current vet so if anyone knows of a good rabbit vet in east ayrshire then i'd very much appreciate it :)

When I was younger we used one in Mauchline... no idea how rabbit savvie they are though. Have you tried calling the RWA to see if they have any recommendations in the area?

p.s. were abouts in Ayrshire are you? I grew up in East Ayrshire and my parents still live there.

As coincidence would have it the vet practice in Mauchline is the one I use!! But as a lot of the people on here have pointed out the vets here are only really giving me advice on how to keep him alive rather than get to the root of the problem and make him better :(

You could maybe try PM'ing Ribbons on here. She is from Kilmarnock which isn't very far away, she might be able to recommend one. Or Rosie_Rabbit who also lives in Ayrshire.

p.s Did you go to secondary school in Auchinleck? That's where I went...

Hi Nicola,

Have PM'd you now (thanks Julie!)

As I said, we still use a vet in Troon, so not strictly East Ayrshire, but have found them very good.

Hope Speckle gets better soon.
