  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ahhh, i let Archie in for 2 secs while i got the washing and forgot i had left a box of choc on the floor. He went straight overt to them and took a small nibble (like he grazed the corner of one) from one of the chocs. What do i do? Is he going to be ok?

Buster has pinched chocolate off of the christmas tree and run off with it  and he had taken a few chunks but he was ok i hope this helps

:) thanks. Archie is a real food lover. He sits on the sofa and tries to eat our dinner off our plates! It's funny most of the time but i have to be so careful around him. Can't believe i left them on the floor!!!!

Im sure he will be ok. We also cant eat anything like chocolate crisps when buster is around but it is good for the diet

if it's only a little bit, he will not have a problem, provided it is not repeated ; best to put chocolate out of their reach, valid for all other pets : dogs etc... dark chocolate is the worst and a real poison for animals..
