  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

They get runny bottoms from any new food if its not introduced properly, whether its pellets, vegetables or a new food mix.
But as long as its introduced gradually they'll do fine.

Tomatoes are fine in small doses but they contain a lot of sugar.
Cucumber... I've given it to them but they consist of almost nothing but water so there's little nutrition. But its ice to have if you're going traveling with the rabbits and won't use water bowls or bottles.
Don't know about celery.

Agreed! I was bad at this to start off with (still getting used to it actually!)

I think you have to remember that places like Yahoo Answers aren't always the best way to get genuine answers, as anyone can post on it with or without solid knowledge of the subject at hand. For example:-

if giving a rabbit veg best to only give as a treat, only give a quarter of a carrot once a week or a big leaf of cabbage

Your best places to look for advice are actual rabbit websites such as rabbit rehome and rabbit welfare etc :)
