  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

beaphar fly guard

touie

Wise Old Thumper
has anyone tried it, I am just wondering if it is as good as rear guard? It has Ivermectin in so I am guessing it would be :?

I have a bottle at home but it's been an awfully long time since I used it  I remember it being much easier to use, as it's a spray rather than a foamy-up applicator pad (which can be a battle and a half to use!) but I must have preferred Rearguard to continue using that one more.

Hi. I've recently used it on most of our rabbits (one has had a lice problem so couldn't have it as is being treated). We've used it for 2 years and it seems to keep the flies away. I definitely think it works and we usually do every 3 months but near summer i do think about doing every 2 however when it rained a lot lost year the flies seemed to disappear so as there were not so many i left it a few more weeks before using again. The thing with it is you must not let any companion rabbits groom the other rabbit etc until it has dried.
