  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Moulting

Hiya:wave:
Sorry if this sounds a stupid question....but is it usual for Zeb to be moulting at this time of year?
I didnt think anything of it until 2 people I mentioned it to thought it was the wrong time of year....now Im thinking that it maybe because he is a house rabbit and the heating has prompted it??
Ta x

Have you recently started putting the heating on higher or longer? If so this could trigger a moult. Sophie is in the hallway, which is normally cooler than the rest of the house, even with the heating on

Is it an all over moult? or just patches, if it is just patches I would check for mites

It started off on his back and now it just seems all over. I'll be glad when it's over.....I didnt know a little rabbit could produce so much fur lol!
I am going to take him to the free bunny clinic soon for a general check up so I am going to get them to just check for mites...beter safe than sorry!
