  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Myxo vacc?

Becki xX

Warren Veteran
Just wondering whether or not Rhia can be vacc'd against Myxo, but am assuming not :? She is on long term penecillin & dieuretics. Whether or not it makes a difference, its blocked bronchials & fluid in her lungs thats the problem. Thanks xx

At the risk of being stupid, have you asked your vet?

Normally it is not wise to vaccinate an unhealthy rabbit though.

Sorry meant to add, ive just spoken to the vets literally five minutes ago & forgot to ask...so dont want to call back right now, or they'll think im a right pain

:wave:Hi Becki.....;) I wouldn't like to say really but your vet would certainly give her a health check before administering the vaccination anyway, so it would be his/her decision at that point. All very well, I suppose, for me to say that when my vet is about half a mile down the road!!! It would be a wasted trip if you have far to travel so leave it a little while and give them a call. ;) We are silly aren't we, I am the same...hate making a nuisance of myself but when you stop and think about it, without folks like us they would be out of a job!
