Lola getting a bit frisky.

~ Cat ~

Wise Old Thumper
Hi folks.

When we got Lola we were told she was female. Over the past few days she has become besotted with Michael my daughters boyfriend who spends ages playing with her and and she jumps over his legs and runs round in circles about him when he is sat on the floor.

However when she was playing yesterday and today she kind of "mounted his arm" and did a little "humping". It

Is this Lola just being excitable or should we have her sexed again? The lady in the pet shop keeps rabbits and is a bit of a rabbit expert but this behaviour by Lola has got me wondering!

Was she just gettting a bit giddy because Michael was "rough and tumbling" with her or could she be a male?

Thank you.

Does can hump too. They generally do it either for dominance or because their hormones are running riot. The fact she is circling also implies that her hormones are playing a part.

Having said that, the gender fairy can strike even those experienced at identifying genders, so it never hurts to have her checked. You could even do it yourself.

How old is your girl? Is she spayed?

She is 4.5 months old. My vet wont spey her until she is 6 months. How do I sex them? Eeeekkkk!

How do I sex them?

There will be some pictures on the forum somewhere - search "sexing" etc. I'm pretty sure there's photos. I would guess trying to find plums would be the easiest way to confirm you had a male rabbit at that age.

The pet shop is probably right though. Esme (7 months) is exhibiting exactly the same behaviour and she is definitely female.

girlies can hump......one of my babies wispa is humping for england and she's only 8 weeks :shock:

I would have thought that at 4.5months you would be seeing definate plums if she was a he....I suspect she's probably getting randy.

Carol lives nearish you I think, she might be able to put you in touch with her vet who might neuter her earlier as it does sound like those hormones are starting to kick in and you don't want her turning into a grump.

I really do recommend them and they are reasonably priced too - although not so cheap that they're doing a rush job or anything! Their vets work at more than one practice usually so they can do things which they specialise in and other vets often call them for advice or refer cases on to them.
