Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Best age to neuter and spay?

At the moment I am seperating a little lad who's about 10 weeks from three females. He is in a hutch in their run so I am hoping they will recognise him after he has been neutered. What's the best age to have him neutered?

I figure that once he is neutered I can get the girls neutered as and when I have the funds.

Hi you can have your rabbit neutered at any age the vet told me I'm getting mine neutered next week no sure of his age tho only had him for 6 weeks, I'm looking to adopt a female rabbit once his been neutered but I've been told by the rescue centre that it takes 6 weeks after the op before I can have a female with him cause he can still make her pregnat so you will need to keep your rabbit away from the females for 6 weeks.

I thought it was 6 weeks to stop agression problems until hormones settle down and less time for sperm to die off?

Apparently sperm is still viable up to 6 weeks so yep keep him separate from females til 6 weeks after his neuter :) so long as he is a good weight the vet should neuter as soon as his plums are there. About 12 weeks i think for most breeds, maybe a bit later for larger breeds. x
