Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Hi guys.

What should I be looking at on Ralph when searching for fleas (apart fro the obvious black moving things!)

and where abouts are common spots to look?

also what is the best treatment to give him? is the flea ointment that is put on to the nape of the neck ok?

i treated him with this a few months ago and he hated it, poor thing. but recently he has been scratching a lot and i guess im just being paranoid. My g/f also recons she has a bite on her neck.

When he was malting I brushed him every day for a week with a flea comb to get rid of all the matted fluff in his fur. I never saw any fleas.

any help would be appreciated

thanks

Dave

Hiya,

If he's scratching but you can't see any fleas they it's more likely he has mites. This are really tiny so you probably won't see them. The vet will give him injections (ivermectin) to get rid of them.
