  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbit wee

 not sure about carrot but sometimes mine have dark red wee depending what they have eaten. Which is obv. different from wee with blood in it. There are other veg like beetroot and i think spinach that makes their wee a funny colour - am sure someone will be along in a sec and know about the carrot question.

My two wee what resembles cold tea!!
It's fine til they think they will show you how much they love you and do it on your foot...

Yes, carrots can turn pee red. As can other things previously mentioned.

Pee with blood in it isn't all the same colour. The blood is a bit swirly and obviously blood. Orange pee, red pee, "tea" pee (sorry  ), yellow pee, clear pee, cloudy pee = normal. Just watch if it is always very cloudy in case they are getting sludgey.

Yes it can, beetroot leaves are even worse, which is the same for us humans when we eat it we produce red wee:D Another mystery to me is why is it your wee smells of sugar puffs after you have eaten them:?

LOL! Since Charlie has been ill he hasn't been able to get in his litter tray so he kind of does it anywhere!! I've put a towel down and it ends up being a rainbow of colours!!! :) Typically, the only old towels I have are white!! It did shock my daughter originally, she was really upset when she saw it but it is very normal!

Yep agree with all teh above, can range from pale yellow to bright red and all normal.
Wee with blood in isnt a 'block red' colour, the blood separates from the urine and looks like spotting or swirls as mentioned baove. Its very obvious... so no worry unless you se his ofcourse

Otherwise eating, drinking and behaving as normal? Then all is ok :D
