  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Sorry if in wrong place but already posted in chat!!

Had Flopsy since he was 9 weeks old and he is now 5 months. He has tonight bit me twice for the first time!!!!

He has always been a nervy sort of bun but gradually I have managed to get him eat our of my hand, be groomed and even rub his nose and back with loads of grunting noises. Always seemed to enjoy until about a week ago!

Not sure if its because he has a new 6 foot run (always had free run of garden till I caught cat with head in his hutch) so he has full garden under supervision (weekend) and run (during week)when I am not outside.

Another thought could this be his hormones kicking in. He never tried to "hump me" but did scrat and claw me a lot before sinking teeth in twice.

Any advice greatly appreciated -think I should have named him Kevin (Kevin & Perry adolescent teenagers!!!)

I think its more than likely him hitting adolescence.....hormonal bunnies are little monsters for quite a few months.

I really would suggest gettig him neutered if he is developing associated behavioural problems.

 Wobbles was a bit like that suddenly at about the same age as flopsy - I had him neutered and it stopped so was defo hormones!

Thanks - Flopsy is booked for his pre-op check next week and is going in the week after so hopefully he will be back to his adorable self soon. It's quite funny to watch him being stoppy but not when he nips:shock:
