What veg do you feed?

What vegetables do you personally feed and how often? At the moment I'm just giving Bellatrix (16 weeks) dandelion, sticky weed, grass and the occasional very small piece of carrot. I'm just wondering about how often and what quantities especially as I'm interested in going very minimal on the pellets (virtually pellet free) when she is older. I'm guessing Bella might need more than some other bunnies as she is a giant breed.

Hi,

Well I have 2 mini lops, so kind of opposite end of the scale, but they have a handful of herbs every evening. The only veg they have is carrot tops given every other week and cauliflower leaves the alternative week.

Otherwise they have a mixture of the following; coriander/basil/rosemary/dill/dandelions & then parsley - every 4-5 days

Also have a handful of grass in the morning! :) xx

I'm not sure about differetn sized breeeds but Rosie is given a mix of things but a focus to give dark leafy greens, each being a handful a day;

Hay - I include grasses and forage with this, so far just been introduced to sticky weed and .....heh name just left me. But two anyway

Veggies - kale, wild rocket, broccoli, Rosemary, cabbage (rarely), she's also had some butternut squash and parsnip

Basically I rotate veg, fruits and flowers based on what Double D can eat most of the time

Mine is on a pellet free diet because of dental problems but he still only gets a handful of veg about the size of his head per day (probably around a cup of veg) :)

Forage wise he gets blackberry leaves (dried or fresh), dandelion (dried or fresh), hawthorn twigs and leaves and sometimes dried plantain but that's usually from a pet shop

Veg wise he gets a mix of herbs and leafy greens depending on what I have in usually a mix of basil, parsley, coriander, mint, romaine lettuce, spring greens, cavolo Nero, sometimes cabbage, occasionally broccoli as a treat, rocket and kale

Molly gets a small amount of kale and mint or basil with a tiny bit of carrot peelings, broccoli, strawberry tops in rotation. At this time of year she mainly has forage and fresh grass. She enjoys dandelion, plantain, rose leaves and petals, Apple leaves. Plantain and kale are her absolute favourites.

I aim to feed a variety of at least 4/5 different greens daily. This time of year it's mixture of forage - grasses, willow, hawthorn, dandelion, bramble, plantain, sticky weed and mint from the garden.
Greens from the shops include kale, cabbage, rocket, parsley, basil, coriander and Brussels sprouts. I tend to feed greens from the shops when there's less forage available.
She gets a slice of carrot or apple as a very occasional treat and a sprinkle of dried herbs and forage each day.
She gets an egg cup of pellets and unlimited hay with a sprinkle of redigrass.

Mine bunnies are 2.5-3kg adults. They have a huge amount of forage (dandelions, grass, sticky weed, dock, raspberry & bramble, plantain, beech, wild strawberry leaves) every day, a handful of readigrass & unlimited hay. In winter its a lot more boring(& expensive), herbs & leafy veg etc that replaces the forage. They have a few excel or fibrafirst as treats

Forage I include under their grass and hay ration really. My quad of lionheads get a large grape carton of a variety of rabbit safe (rwaf list) veg/herbs and a double handful of pellets split between two/three feeds and usually two to three handfuls or grass/forage in each of the two feeds. Hay they have as much as they can eat. Forage/grass gets replaced by treat hay or dried forage in winter. They also get a small piece of root veg/fruit of a fenugreek crunchie eat twice a day as well as safe twigs to chew on.

Jasper who is medium sized gets a medium grape carton of veg and three handfuls of grass/forage plus a small handful of pellets split over 3 feeds plus a couple of treat items as mentioned above. He's more fussy about veg so I stick to the green leafy stuff mostly and he gets less of a selection of forage as he's fussy about that too. Plus he gets hay also obviously :)

Feed over as many feeds as you can as they are designed to graze and make her work for food hiding it in loo rolls, hay, cardboard boxes, paper bags or hanging it on a string.

Mine get a variety each day, some things daily, others less often if higher in calcium, but it mainly includes the following:

Celery
Spring greens
Kale
Brocolli
Baby corns
Cucumber
Brussel sprouts
Chicory
Pak choi

Whatever selection I give them I include some fresh herbs too, some thyme, mint, coriander, basil or Greek basil.

Mine have fresh herbs daily (basil, mint, dill, parsley, thyme etc) and some dried forage. I only really give fruit or veg very occasionally more as a treat. They have very small bits of carrot, brocolli, kale, apple, banana, raspberries, blueberries. Other than that they get an eggcup of pellets each a day and a fiberfirst stick.

Theres no real order though i like to focus on leafy stuff (kale and wild rocket) but honestly it doesnt matter too much as long as youre giving them time to be introduced and get usedbit is whats countd:)

Mine all have a mix of hay, forage (brambles, dandelions, grass, herb robert, ragged robin, sticky weed) and a few pellets in the evening (just cos they love them).

7 of my rabbits dont really need pellets at all but my mini lop has lost weight so he gets loads and the others adore them so I let them have a few sprinkled in hay.

Fresh herbs and forage are best, dark leafy green veg is good.

I agree about feeding as many times a day as you can - little and often as they are designed to graze.
