We have 3 babies!!

New Kit
Morning
I’m sure this happens all the time but we brought from a reputable breeder and our 2 girls turned out to be a girl and a boy and we now have 3 beautiful baby bunnies mam is doing a great job they’re little chunky fluff balls and dad is in the vets today to try and stop any more even though I’ve been told the chances are it’s already too late!! My question is they were born in the sleeping section of a 2 story hutch and obviously as they grow they will need to be safe from falling down the ramp, we’ve blocked the lower part of the access door so they can’t wriggle out but they’re getting bigger every day and I can’t block the ramp or mam won’t be free to get to them when needed. When can I move them somewhere safer without effecting the great job that mama bunny is doing ?? They are around 11days old.
Thank you 🙂

Sorry, I've no experience with new baby bunnies. I would be inclined to just put a pile of hay down (maybe in a large litter tray) as a soft landing. Moving the babies may stress mum out, which could result in harm to the babies

Mum may well be pregant again - they mate literally straight after giving birth. Dad will also still be fertile for up to around 6 weeks after neutering - so there's still the potential for a third unplanned litter. Mum will also need neutering when all the babies are big enough not to be relying on her any more.

Is dad now completely separated from mum and babies?

I would be thinking about letting the breeder know that they got it wrong when sexing the babies. It happens a lot.... and it's not fair on anyone when they find themselves in your situation.

Good luck with everything.
