Great that his poos look normal and he's eating. He also sounds pleased to be home.

Re the syringe feeds, I think it's better not to stress him with them if he's eating well. I would give him a range of his normal foods and see how he manages. It sounds positive that he's eating hay, as that is left sometimes with painful teeth. If he seems to be eating well, I would leave out the critical care completely and keep checking (if you can) what he is eating, offering alternatives if you don't think he's having enough.

What's carefresh made of? Some rabbits who nibble cardboard are said to be craving fibre. I would continue to cover it up with hay, which will be good for him to eat.

I hope he continues to improve and am pleased at Maggie's reaction.

He's just left a nasty looking poo in his litter tray so I guess we're not completely out of the woods. I've just battled with him to give him his meds, I might try and get 1ml of critical care in to him in a bit and if I can't then I'll just leave it for now and mix some up on a plate to see if he'll take it.

Carefresh is paper-based, my main concern is that it expands slightly when wet so I obviously don't want him eating it. Have never seen him do that before, although he does like chewing/eating cardboard generally (in hindsight maybe that's contributed to his stasis?).

Don't apologise! Thank you for your good vibes. He has still got some unformed poops but he is eating on and off. I'm still baffled by him exploring tbh. I have my desk in the rabbit room so I've been sitting there working and he's been sitting under my feet for ages. No idea what to make of that as he's never sat there before and never even ventured as far as the desk before. All very odd behaviour.

This is the most stupid suggestion but Pearl was in my office space until I moved. If I led on the floor she was so interested in me - she would eat right next to me- like I said stupid suggestion but could you put yourself on the floor with some herbs and see if that works. I am only basing this on just how interested Pearl was when she could come and "explore" me?

We're a bit tight on space as he's been chilling under the desk where my chair goes. He seems happy-ish, he just flopped down on his side a minute ago and now he's stretching up to check out some papers I have nearby. He's had a little spinach and wolfed that down so he is eating. I can't quite explain some of it, he's doing normal rabbit things but these are things he's never really done before, and it seems so unusual for him to do them at this precise moment given everything he's just been through lol. I think that's why I'm finding his behaviour so odd even though under normal circumstances it wouldn't be.

That's what I started to wonder, has the terrible experience of being hospitalised made him finally feel more at home?! Who knows, wish they could talk! He certainly seems comfortable in his new spot so I won't disturb him, just fed him again and he's wolfed it down so I'm probably overthinking. I wonder if there's ever been another post on here where someone is querying why their rabbit is acting... like a rabbit haha

I definitely remember having a vet tell me after a stasis episode that there was Megazorb in the poos, and that it was a really bad thing, because it expands etc (it wasn't the cause of the stasis though). I think we switched to a different litter as a result, but I think all you can do really is cover it up well, because he probably won't go digging for it.

I think it probably relates to the dodgy poo you saw. Not that it has caused it, but more that the Carefresh nibbling is a response to his guts not feeling right. With Lily pig, who hasn't been fully well since her spay, she has had episodes of chewing all sorts of things (including microfibre mats, which is really not good for her). I don't really understand why these animals don't know that hay is what they need!

Funnily enough I used to use megazorb with my old buns, couldn't find it locally when I got him so I originally found another brand of horse bedding that was safe for rabbits, but I swapped it out because I didn't like how much it expanded. I'll just leave it covered up now to be on the safe side. He hasn't eaten much hay since this morning but has eaten other stuff.

It was one of those sort of loose unformed smelly ones, not a normal ceco. He's been doing plenty of normal ones in between though.

Since he is making normal poos I would not worry about a soft smelly one, especially with him exploring and flopping.
It does sound like your home is the familiar secure place after his vet visit.

Thanks, our appointment isn't for another 4 hours. Unfortunately it's at a branch of our vets that is a bit further away so he won't be too happy about the journey but needs must!

The weirdest thing happened when I went to give him his nighttime feed at 3am. Firstly when I turned the light on he was almost at the bedroom door, where (to my knowledge anyway) he's never ever been before, so I was thinking this is good. Anyway, went off to prep his nuggets and critical care mix, came back and he started circling, honking and thumping! I actually think (and hope) I just witnessed an excited Terry for the first time since he came home at the end of March. He almost feels like a totally different rabbit. I suppose he must've been feeling stressed and unwell for a while but hid it. I know we're not out of the wood yet as we still have spurs and a decision to make there, but I'm just so relieved that he is feeling a little better and is able to show it.
