seperated at birth - could they bond?

Young Bun
we bought our male bun from a local breeder and after deciding we now want another, have learnt that the breeder has a doe from the same litter available. We bought him at 8 weeks, he's now 16 weeks old. We'd ideally want a bun that was a completely different colour, rather than 2 who look the same, but his character is so good & we've been told his sister has the same temperament so it's appealing. Would it be a wise move to have her & then once both neutered, try & bond them? Sounds silly, but would they recognise each other?

They won't have a clue, rabbits don't know who is related to who so brothers and sisters will breed etc because they don't have relationships like that, if that makes sense.

She may have a similar temperament now, but once her hormones kick in she could probably be a completely different rabbit.

Have you looked into rescues? That way you would know the females personality exactly as she comes because she will already be spayed/vaccinated etc.

It wouldn't make a difference either way, so no more likely/unlikely to work. You'd have to cope with separate rabbits whilst sorting neutering etc. so if I was you I'd neuter your male and then go looking for females, the easiest option is a pre-neutered female from rescue. If you really want the girl it's not impossible it's just probably not the easiest route to two :)
