Yeah, that was the same problem I had. There were so few single girls available that it was a case of grabbing the first one that came along. My first bond with Fudgie and Snoopy was by far the easiest and I really do think it was because they had a speed date at the rescue and they established they would be a good match.

Scipio had a great time when I was bonding him with Fudgie. It may have been youthful arrogance but he knew straightaway he was top bun so he quite enjoyed the process. Same couldn't be said for poor Fudgie, sadly. She had a really miserable time and I felt so guilty putting her through it.

Scipio isn't so chipper with this bond. I think he knows he's met his match with Solveig...
 
Yeah, it's true: they're all different! Lopsy was such a pushover, Chibbs was like, ha, I;m in here, and he loved her becasue she was less food-orientated XD Barrie was excited to have a friend, but I think Chibbs wanted to go back to being on her own XD She was such a bully. I don;t think Barrie ever wanted to be top bun, I think he was happy just having a friend, but because he was less of a pushover (although arguaby easier physically XD) than Lopsy, Chibbs just laid into him until she realised she was stuck with him. Again, lots of 'please just at least get on with each other!' I did threaten Chibbs with going back to the rescue because she was the 'easier rehome' being cuter and less wonky XD Although a total cow ;P
 
Aww Chibbs, you're the cutest little battleaxe I've ever seen! Although I have to say that I'm glad she's not my bunny. The thought of bonding her makes me break out in a cold sweat! I'm happy to admire her from a safe distance 😆

As is everyone XD Although she was enjoying the headrubs this morning, the fluff-pulling, not so much (she's moulting early for teh impending warm spell). The OH has gone away with work for a few days and left me on bunny-duty (he usually does all the fun stuff becasue it's too early/late for me XD)

I have a positive update: Scipio has groomed Solveig a few times! She hasn't groomed him back yet but that's still a step in the right direction.

Having said that, I'm not sure if they're still 100% comfortable with each other. There's still a fair amount of eyeballing and I can sense a little bit of tension when one of them is moving around. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I feel like I'm waiting for that "click" for the atmosphere to change and for them be more relaxed when they're in close proximity to each other. Hopefully that'll come in a few more days as it does feel like it's gradually getting there.

I've been able to introduce treats and they try and steal each other's treats and amazingly things don't kick off! Scipio has also stuck his nose up her bottom a couple of times. Every atom in my body tensed up when he did that as I wasn't sure if he was going to bite her or if she was going to whip round and rip his head off! Fortunately she just ignored him.

Yay, I'm glad they are getting there. Chinook used to snuggle in to Eddys bottom too - I think it felt safer than the bitey end. Fantastic to have groomies :love: keep going everybun. Whilst mine are looking coupley now they aren't the most peaceable couple. Eddy is still a grumpy ****** at times-similar to how Boo would sometimes be with Mouse. I'm guessing some buns live more harmonious married lives than others.

Do we have any lying / sitting together?
 
I decided to be brave today and put a couple of litter trays in. Thankfully, that doesn't appear to have caused territorial issues as they're both using both trays interchangeably.

Still wish they'd slither a bit closer together at snoozy time though...

I read this and had a hilarious imagine of buns slithering towards one another. I do hope they get slithering soon. 😆
 
I have to say that I'm very happy she's groomed him back. I was a bit worried that the grooming was going to be very one sided which might have caused issues, especially as Scipio is used to being groomed a lot from when he was with Fudgie.

Having said all that, I don't think we're quite there yet. Still seems to be a bit of wariness with each other, which isn't helped by the fact that they're both a bit "pouncy". I'm hoping that'll settle down with a bit more time. Given what a bad start they had, I guess it's not surprising that they're taking a bit of time to fully trust each other. On a positive note, they've both flopped and binkied so I think they're feeling happier being in each other's company.

Yes this is definitely good news. I'm sure the pouncing will stop as they get more used to each other. But binkies is wonderful news

Hopefully, you're right that the pouncing will stop as they get more used to each other. It does make me slightly nervous as the "pouncee" will whip round and there's a bit of a face to face stand off. The fear of them kicking off again is what's making me a tad apprehensive!

I've been giving them extra treats, herbs and forage to reward "good" interactions such as when they groom each other or approach each other gently. I have no idea if positive reinforcement works with bunnies, but it's worth a try! It's also part of encouraging them to eat together so they associate each other with nice things.
 
I'm pretty sure your buns would concur that extra treats are imperative in the development of good relations. I've never started a bonding session without food bribes. Nice experiences in each others company has got to be a good thing, surely. I also like to stroke them at the same time to help them feel relaxed :love: Almost there Scraps
