Saar's tumour (was Getting Saar spayed?)

I would not like that combo and I love broccoli and brussel sprouts.
At least you did not buy ten pouches before learning she does not like it.

I don't think babies do like it. That's why they're always spitting it out!!!
When my youngest sibling was still a baby, she wouldn't eat baby food at all. My mom literally blended up regular foods, like sweet potato and such. Apparently, that was fine... maybe the manufacturers should stop making combos?

Saar didn't want one of the flavours of baby food I got for her. Not wanting to waste food, I just ate the rest of the pouch myself, and I definitely see where she's coming from. Broccoli, peas, and pear is a truly vile combination. Do babies like this kind of stuff??
No, I don't know anyone who uses them except for pets! Barrie and Chibbs really like Lidl's own-brand sweet potato, pumpkin, apple and blueberry, but I mix it with oats for them. Then I freeze it in walnut-sized balls, and defrost the next day's in the fridge. I might need to do it again this winter. I sometimes add frozen banana: bananas freeze really well but defrost as mush, so harder to administer if you're used to slices etc. Lopsy didn't care as long as it was banana ;P

Wow that does sound like a truly horrid flavour. No wonder Saar didnt want it.
Yeah, I totally understand why!

I love broccoli, too! And peas and pear are great, too. Just not mushed together, apparently :ROFLMAO: But, yes, thankfully I didn't buy 10! Only two, so I still have one to eat myself 😬

If even babies don't like baby food, they should probably make some changes... Like, yes, stop making combos just because all the ingredients happen to are the same colour. Blended sweet potato does sound much nicer than this stuff, so I get your sibling!

Sounds like they need to re-market baby food :ROFLMAO: I can't say sweet potato, pumpkin, apple and blueberry sounds like a very appetising combination to me, but who am I to argue with Barrie and Chibbs? I didn't realise you could freeze the stuff. That would be very handy as there's no way Saar gets through an entire pouch in the 48 hours it says it stays good for, or through an entire banana before it goes brown! I'm pretty sure Saar will care little as Lopsy about the banana being mush 😆

Having licked it off the spoon, it's... OK? Too blueberry-y for me really, but the pumpkin comes through nicely :) Anything with peas in is vile though IME. I love peas, I even don't mind plain mushy peas, but baby food peas (jar, pouch, anything) taste horrible.

I'm suprised it's okay! Guess they found a unexpectedly decent combination there, then. Yeah, I'm staying far away from baby food peas if the one I tried is any indication 😆

Just thought I'd give an update on Saar: She's still doing really well. If you didn't know she's getting medication 8 times a day, you wouldn't think there's anything wrong with her. She still really loves her food. The junior pellets aren't her favourite, but she'll eat them. She's happy and active and has learned that there's food in the kitchen, so she goes there often now :ROFLMAO: I decided a while ago that I'd let her try as many foods as she wants (responsibly, of course; nothing that's bad for her and only one thing at a time), to make her remaining weeks/months more fun, and she's been very much enjoying that  I still haven't found anything she won't eat, except that disgusting baby food :ROFLMAO:

I’m so glad she’s doing well 😍 I missed the baby food posts at the time. The Aldi banana or apple baby food pouches are nice, I use them in my overnight oats 😂

Thank you  Banana or apple for in your oats does sound nice; makes me think they should just start selling it for adults and pets :ROFLMAO: I still haven't heard about any actual babies eating this stuff :ROFLMAO:

Found one! My friend uses the Ella's Kitchen banana and coconut one (and other Ella's fruity ones) as a 'mobile snack' for her daughter, but off a spoon and only half at a time :) I use the term mobile snack to mean things like packed lunch or when they're out for hours, like they have been with me :)

So pleased to hear that Saar is happy and doing well Reader, that's s a testament to your love and care, and Caspers too of course 😊. I really hope that she continues this way for a long time to come 😍

Oh, hey, an actual child! That's great, haha. They do seem very convenient for when you're out and about. The Ella's Kitchen ones are what I have for Saar.

Aww, thank you so much, PM

What a lovely update ❤️ you go for it Saar, enjoying your life with loads of new tasting experiences.
8 medication slots a day is a lot. I hope its not impacting on your sleeps too much

Aw, thank you. I can mostly fit it all around my naps and my sleep at night. I have to get up once during the night, so that's not great for my sleep quality, and I've definitely been noticing it, but if it keeps her comfy that's the important thing.

aww I feel for you. I used to get up at about 3am for Rudey's syringe feed & it was surprisingly exhausting

Aw, thanks. It's around 3am for me, too. It's not very restful when you need to fully wake up in the middle of the night, is it? I'll gladly do it for her, as I'm sure you did for lovely Rudey, but it's also quite bad for my energy levels.

I can imagine it is. Rudey was especially bad for my finances as I refused to get a job cos he needed full on care. Boo didn't impact so much as I just had to wake myself up to check she'd not fallen over. I agree though, its important to keep them comfortable (& sick bunnies are not good for stress & energy levels either so either way, caring for elderly & poorly buns will takes its toll)

It is wonderful to hear that Saar is doing well.
When my bridge bunnies Heidi and Raven needed meds overnight it was not too bad because my spouse and I are both at an age that nighttime bathroom trips are required. Both bunnies took meds well so it only took a few minutes to do, though turning on bright lights was keep to a minimum. Overnight feedings took longer, though just like you and many others on RU we did what we needed to do in the best interest of our furry friends.
Sending lots of positive vibes.

That's so understandable. I don't see how you would've been able to combine Rudey's care with a job at all. In that way I'm lucky that I can't work anyway and have my benefits and am home all day anyway. I remember your having to wake up to check if Boo was upright ❤️ But you're right, caring for poorly and/or elderly buns is always going to take its toll.

Ah, I see. Would you and your spouse just give Heidi and Raven their meds when you woke up for nighttime bathroom trips, then, or would you set an alarm? I do tend to wake up throughout the night, but rarely at the right time for meds, so I set an alarm (well, several, so I don't accidentally fall back asleep), which I find much more disruptive to my sleep quality than just waking up on my own. Thankfully Saar's not too fussed about her meds, either, so it only takes a few minutes like it did for you.
Thank you for the vibes ❤️

I'm glad Saar's doing well ❤️ I'm sorry about your having to wake up in the middle of the night. It's a bit like having a baby, only reverse: an old bunny! What's your alarm to wake up? Have you tried using soft sounds or white noise? I had trouble using regular alarms or vibration alarms, to the point where I'd jump every time I got a text! It was just too disruptive because my body, by the time the alarm came on, was already used to waking up, so it didn't need a loud alarm. I now use Gymnopédie No. 1 by Erik Satie to wake up, it's a really light piano song, super quiet. Maybe something like that would help? Or nature noise, like rain?

I've also seen an alarm clock that slowly gets brighter to wake you up, but honestly, that would just irritate the heck out of me!

Sending vibes for you so that you can keep going Reader ❤️

Aw bless Saar for realising that the kitchen contains food and going in there more often!!! I love your idea of letting her have lots of different foods as that is what brings her joy.

She is a lucky girl to have such lovely care from you and to have lovely Casper to be with.
