Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.
You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.
I'm happy to hear you are less stressed now & taking care of yourself too. Please give beautiful Saar a big snack from me & a wee fuss if she allows. Its so nice to hear her pain management plan & has been tweaked so she is pain free. Good work everybunAw, thank you all so muchHer pain seems to be mostly under control right now, thankfully. The CBD oil is arriving today, so hopefully that'll take care of the rest once we've reached the right dosage.
I've been trying to take care and am feeling less stressed now, thank you![]()
Aww, thank you. I've done bothI'm happy to hear you are less stressed now & taking care of yourself too. Please give beautiful Saar a big snack from me & a wee fuss if she allows. Its so nice to hear her pain management plan & has been tweaked so she is pain free. Good work everybun
Aww she really does have a sweet tooth doesnt she. A real foodie rabbitAww, thank you so much for the vibes, bunny mommaSaar is still eating really well, thankfully. She's not getting her meds with her syringe feed anymore, though, no. She hasn't wanted her syringe feed since last week
I've tried several, and she doesn't want any of them. I'd love to say it's because she knows she doesn't need them, but she does, because she's losing weight again now. I've ordered some baby food to mix with it; hopefully that'll work. I also learned that one of her medications shouldn't be mixed with food, and that's the one she gets most frequently. The Metacam and Emeprid she'll usually voluntarily take straight from the syringe, so that only leaves the CBD oil, which I've been mixing with a bit of banana. She really likes banana! I've never lived with a bunny who did, but Saar has a real sweet tooth, haha.
I bet she'd eat plain sugar if I gave it to her! Thank you. I've ordered some junior pellets, too, since they have more protein and fat, so maybe those will help as well.Aww she really does have a sweet tooth doesnt she. A real foodie rabbiti hope the baby food does the trick
Aw, thank you, PM. She's loving all the new food, and is eating her syringe feed with some baby food! Being mugged for banana every morning, aww. That sounds like such a special memory. Treacle must've really liked her daily banana sliceSending lots of eating vibes for beautiful Saar, hoping that she will eat the new food. My bridge bunny Treacle, would fight you for banana, she had a slice every morning from my breakfast bowl, happy memories of being mugged.
I'm sure they wouldn't have minded having ALL the narnaIt was always so hard not to give each of my bunnies ALL the narna as they loved it so much, but the sugar wasn't friendly to their tummies. Which was fine, I always ate the rest.
Just know that even if I don't post I'm following your journey with Saar and hoping she will continue to do as well as possible for as long as possible.![]()
Aw, thank you for saying that, tulsi, and for hoping she can be as pain free as possible. Porridge is not the healthiest for them, but it is good for weight gain, so she's been having some oats these past couple of days and she loves themAw what a journey you are all on. I love reading the updates. She is so so so lucky to have landed with you and lovely Casper.
I hope she can be as pain free as possible for the rest of her days.
Can rabbits have porridge to help them gain weight?
I'm getting the impression that you love food as much as Saar doesOh, sweet Saar, I'd take my meds better if they were in the middle of a cake each time too
How's the CBD working for her?
Lots more hugs and vibes for you all, my friends x
Me like food? Are you kidding? Food is my favorite flavor! Have you ever tasted it? It taste great!!!I'm getting the impression that you love food as much as Saar doesCan't say I would mind some cake with my meds, either, though!
Aw, thank you. I'm sorry Buttons (I love her name) is struggling with pain, too. My vet said CBD oil could help with my other bun's arthritis as well, so it seems worth a try. It's generally recommended to start with one drop of the lowest strength twice a day and then increase the dosage over time until you see the effects you want. I'm using 5% strength for Saar. You could use CBD isolate, but it's thought that the other cannabinoids are important for pain relief, too, so I have chosen a broad spectrum one for Saar. There's quite a bit of uncertainty about whether THC and terpenes are safe for bunnies, though, so I think it's best to err on the side of caution and only use CBD oil without. Ones for cats, and pets in general, often don't have any terpenes as cats can't have them (good companies should have reports from third-party testing available on their website showing there's none in there, same with THC; cat/pet ones often come in salmon oil, though, so look out for that.) I'm using one from a German brand, but I'm guessing you'll be able to find some good ones in the UK.Sending Saar and you kind comforting thoughts. I’m having the same problem some days with buttons. Her pain is arthriti. I hadn’t thought about CBD oil. I have some in. Does it have to be a certain strength or type to give to buns?
Aw, thank you, bunny momma. She's already gotten bored with the syringe feed/baby food mixtureI am happy to read Saar is doing well with oats and her other goodies. Sending lots of positive vibes that she continues to enjoy her food and her life with you and Casper.
I mean, I wouldn't say all food tastes greatMe like food? Are you kidding? Food is my favorite flavor! Have you ever tasted it? It taste great!!!
I'm glad to hear the CBD is working well for her. Since she sounds so curious and not slow, maybe there's more time than we thought. More big vibes and hugs!![]()
It really would be. Every extra day with her will be incredibly welcomeIt would be wonderful if the tumor is growing more slowly than estimated and Saar could have a lot more time with you and Casper.
Wow that does sound like a truly horrid flavour. No wonder Saar didnt want it.Saar didn't want one of the flavours of baby food I got for her. Not wanting to waste food, I just ate the rest of the pouch myself, and I definitely see where she's coming from. Broccoli, peas, and pear is a truly vile combination. Do babies like this kind of stuff??
