Wise Old Thumper
My sweet Boobly Bear .... I am so sorry its taken me almost 2 years to write your tribute. To say I think about you every single day is a serious underestimate.
In Spring of 2014, we were in search of a special girl bunny for Joey who was missing his Noodle bun. It felt like mission impossible, where were all the single girls? Then we heard about you from the RSPCA in Altrincham. You were described as wilful, loving & a bun that knew what she wanted & how to get it. Perfect
I am embarrassed to say when I heard you were a white bun with red eyes I almost stalled. Its hard to believe I didn't see the beauty in REW's til I met you but its true.
Introducing you to Joey was an entertaining experience. You were only a few minutes in that bonding pen but you still squeezed in happy chases, binkies & a flop, leaving an overwhelmed Joey hiding behind my legs.
Your back story was that you were found wandering. I know that many a rescue rabbit is dumped but with you I was absolutely convinced that if you were living a life you didn't want to live, there is no doubt you would have got out of there. It later transpired what the RSPCA said was bang on, you knew exactly what you wanted, knew exactly how to get it...always done with so much confidence & self assurance it was impossible to question.
Bonding with Joey was completed within a day of you coming home. Joey came out of that bonding session with the mistaken belief he was top bun, but you always got on just fine. No bun was was gonna mess with Boobly bear

Joey

Life was good & life was funny. You navigated our big rented house with ease, played in the garden but always came in to snooze. You had skills we were seriously lacking, in calling Joey in. We discovered you were deaf & I think maybe this contributed to you being a super chilled & mastery of flops. When Joey was lonely we started bedtime nuggets to show him he could have people company at night. This became your absolute favourite time of day. You could count to six & so on the bed nuggets needed to be carefully portioned. Unlike your bunny friends you'd stay all night on the bed with us. Bed time was at midnight and you knew it, through the changing seasons we'd be rounded up at exactly midnight & oral protestations followed if we were slow to move. My most vocal rabbit ever
I really loved that about you. You do cause a few heart stopping moments & could have made a "Bunny Suicides" book of your own. Outside you'd spook easy & bolt from rocky raised beds....inside you'd play skiddies down the really long windowsill & attempt to hang yourself on the soon to be dismantled vertical blinds.
Somewhere I have an adorable little video of you eating wild strawberries in the garden, then you (have the nerve to) teach Joey how to dig (in his very own garden) & then binkied. That kind of summed you up, one adventure or moment of joy quickly followed by another. A year later I joined RU & felt inspired to add to the bunny perfection in my life .... This was also the time you became a "movie star", well you at least featured in france's lectures for bunny owners, doing your REW scanning thing.
