Hi all.
I wanted to post this for some advice or maybe future support for others. I have some confusion around me rabbits recent passing.
Around 9.30am yesterday morning my rabbit came to greet us and was perfectly normal, eating, pooing etc at 12pm I came to offer him a treat and he refused and was hunched in his bed. I opted for a carrot and some other treats which he didn’t take. I came him so critical care which he didn’t really take too.
We decided at 3pm to ring the vets as there was no improvement and I was becoming worried.
The vet (usually offers some meds and gut stimulant but this time was different) she wanted to keep him to monitor and offer a range of medications and monitoring. Around 11pm they rang to say he’s had some kale but isn’t improving and they were putting him on lidocaine to manage pain as they are hoping this will improve things. The xray showed a blockage. 7am the following morning she rang to say he perked up but then his heart rate started slow and he passed.
I don’t think this is anything that anyone could have done but he was only 5 had no other health issues and had everything he needed and more. I’m not blaming the vets but I’m not sure whether admission was too stressful for him.
