Profile Posts ?

I have only just noticed that when some new members Register they seem to post a question as a ‘Profile Post’, which does not appear on the main forum, just on our main page as we log in. The new members’ Profile Posts are in a box bottom right of the Forum’s main page

None of these Profile Posts have received any response, needless to say the Member who made the post is usually never seen again. Seems a shame.

What's the point of a Profile Post facility anyway?

I sometimes see them at the bottom of the What's new tab, yet the one or two on health issues had either delayed response or no response. It is sad they are not getting answers of the quality you or some others would provide.

Trouble is no-one can respond to a question asked in a Profile Post. I am not sure Newbies realise this.

I can definitely see how it's confusing to newbies and goes unnoticed by other members!

it seems like there should at least be an explanation of what a profile post is to help alleviate the confusion. Like above the profile post feature and in a "help/FAQ" thread/article.

The latter could be sent via welcome DM to all new members.

Not sure what built-in features this forum has though, like if automatic welcome DMs are possible, and I'm assuming there's no way to add a little text box with a description of profile posts above that feature.

Yea it might be possible to turn it off, Idk, I don't actually have access to any of that stuff so I can't quickly look unfortunately.

It's just a feature this forum software has tho, it might make sense in other forums. Tbf it's like posting something on your own page (kinda like fb) rather than in a section of the forum. But our users use this forum like the old forum coz we was all used to that so the feature doesn't get used really.
