• Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Possible neutering for Murphy

Murphy sounds like a lovely bunny so I understand why you want to make sure he will be safe, especially with the traumatic experience you had with your guinea pig.
A competent vet can perform a neuter quickly so Murphy will not be under anesthesia for long which minimizes the risks.
Plus we will all be sending you and Murphy positive vibes.

Thank you! Murphy is due for his 6 month check up in beginning of July, so I decided to use that date to set the ball rolling to enquire on neutering and set a date.
I must admit, the past few nights have been a little crazy.... changed 4 waterproof coverings on settee in 3 nights, been scratched and bitten to where Ive needed a bandage, been sprayed on in my face, hair and had to change clothes... but on the plus side, he's leaping about and running around me and jumping into my lap, nuzzling, licking me and falling asleep in my lap.

I can only assume from all that is that 1) he is merely following his natural rabbit instincts and 2) he kinda likes me a bit (!)

Changed his room round a little bit today, and got him a castle :)
