Picking Fur Off Bonded Bunny

ERCD

Warren Scout
Hello,

I need some advice please.

Two of my buns, Ozzie & Lola, are recently bonded. She’s top bun and he’s expected to groom her at her leisure. So far, so good.

But - I have found that he’s picking fur off her, and she’s getting some small bald patches. She lets him do it, so I don’t think it hurts her, but I don’t want it to carry on.

How can I stop him picking her fur? He is incredibly into biting and chewing (more so than any bunny I’ve ever had), and he’s particularly into things he shouldn’t be chewing. He loves soft furnishings and especially the non-slip rubber under the bathroom mats (he turns them over to get to it, so we’ve had to block it off). Can buns have pica?

They are both free-roam, so not penned in and bored. He has chew toys and hay and hay tunnels and appropriate stuff, but the non-appropriate things are more alluring. He tries to pick human food out of my mouth and will jump up on me as soon as he can smell food. This evening, he came charging across the room when I opened a bar of chocolate.

In over 12 years of having bunnies, I have never experienced anything like it 👀
