Perfect in the pen, Chaos outside 😅 Help!

New Kit
Hi everyone! I have a 5-month-old female mini lop who isn’t spayed yet. I got her about a month ago and I think she’s learned to use her litter box. She lives in a 120 cm x 120 cm pen and every day I try to let her out for playtime.

The big problem is that as soon as she comes out, she pees and poops ALL over the house — and I mean a lot of poops, EVERYWHERE 😅. Sometimes she even does happy binkies while spraying pee at the same time. That’s a huge issue, especially since the whole house is covered with rugs.

Next month I’m planning to have her spayed, and I wanted to ask those of you who keep your rabbits free-roam indoors: will the peeing and pooping get better after spaying? Because otherwise I don’t know if I have any other solution than keeping her in the pen and only letting her out for short periods.

Thanks in advance!

I can not advise but I am having issues with Kanga pooping everywhere and favouring the back of the couch for piddling! I shall watch this thread with interest for any tips and tricks. Kanga is male and not neutered yet.

She's not got enough room in her basic pen, and is marking the territory outside it to claim it as hers in case there are other (rabbit) intruders around when she can't use the space. You may well find that she marks less as she settles down and when she has more freedom. I would use several litter trays in the main areas she is toileting. If there is hay in larger trays, she's more likely to sit eating the hay and toilet there at the same time. Poo is fairly easy to deal with as it is dry and will easily sweep up, but urine is more of an issue and I would concentrate on those areas. Spaying will also help.
