Pearl. June 2007 - 8th April 2010

just putting it out there as i'm new to it but she could have pastruella. i'm reallt sure bunnies don't get hayfever it's usually pastruella they have which have the same sypmtoms as a human would have with hayfever. Ralph sneezes and has gunk from his nose during the day time when its warmer but come evening time he's alot better. like i said i'm very new to all this, the antibotics didn't really help alot with ralph so he hasn't had any for nearly two minths as their so harsh on the tum.

thats what worries me.. theres no gunk... how can they treat something when theres no obvious symptoms.. i have to phone at 1.30 to see if shes ok, but i guess i wont find out till disharge tonight if theyve found anything..

im so tired i just wanna go home and cry :cry::cry:

Alfie has the same problem, it flared up in the Spring and is now under control with an asthma pump. He struggles to breathe, sticks his nose in the area when it's really bad.

The vets did heart scans/lung x rays/blood test everything came back as clear. So we decided he must have either an allergy or some form of asthma.

My little man is doing OK now :)

Becki thanks for letting us know your experience too. My vet is great but even this was strange for her, she couldn't figure it out at all!

Pastruella was thought of but it didn't clear with Baytril and the fluid from the nose was clear. She hasn't once put her head in the air today as it is bucketing down in Liverpool. It was very warm yesterday and although she is now indoors if we have a window open she is going to struggle.

I noticed around her eyes go slightly red too so I am convinced it is an allergy. :)

Pearl has woken up ok... receptionist said her xrays were fine but the vet will go through them tonight when i pick her up... fingers crossed for an allergy..

what would blood tests show up?

Alfie's bloods didn't show up anything for an allergy we just had to presume it was from his symptoms.

I don't know if this is the case for all bunnies though :)

hes taken bloods and we will get the results next Tuesday.

he did 3 xrays.. one on each side and one lying flat out (shes got beautiful bones :love:) he said the lungs are clear and the heart is a normal shape and size :D:D:D

he has given another course of Baytril and something to open up her airways to make breathing easier for her :D

he dont want to try treating with steriods until he gets the bloods back because if it is an infection they will make it worse..

hopefully all will become clear next week but until then at least theres a drung to help her breathe :D:D

shes really not my friend now :cry:

Aw hun thats good news, Lionels x rays were all clear too, its very puzzling isn't it?
Do you know what she was given to help her breath? Might need to suggest this to my vet as L is only on antibiotics.
I'm sure she will be your friend again soon

weve just rebonded.. shes so forgiving :love::love::love:

its a 5g packet of bisolvon powder and im to mix a small pinch with water and syringe once aday.. ive not looked it up yet, but on the pack it says its for use with cattle and pigs with respiritary probs  vet said it would open up her airways until the bloods come back and he knows what hes dealing with...

he did suggest it could just be the heat and nothing more sinister than that, but i told him the room hasnt gone over 23 degrees C since she started breathing wrong.. i also suggested that a friend with guniea pigs thinks it might be the humidity... he looked at me blankly :lol::lol: poor sod must of had a really long day

loved looking at pearly in xray tho.. shes got a HUGE big belly and a tiny little heart...perfect she is :love::love:

Glad her x rays were clear :D

Alfie is on bisolvon powder as well, he gets a very small pinch popped on a grape so he doesn't even know he is getting drugs
