Pearl Gray

Just to say they are both much brighter this morning, they have input and output so I am pleased. Kanga wants to come out and play but that is a no no at the moment.

Kanga had his eye flushed - from the infection that my nearby vet gave the eye drops for, he also had his feet trimmed- the dreadlocks he wont let me comb. So no more sore feet for him hopefully.

I have to take them back to Urmston on Friday - but OH is at work - he is the navigator and then again next week not sure how to do this, I do have waze on my phone but for some reason it doesnt speak out loud - I am rubbish at tech!

The paracetomal is to be given every 8 hours and the metacam every 12 - really worried about tonight and Monday morning - I am at work for both those times. OH works 12 hour shifts so not in for either of these.

I am pleased they are both eating and pooping already. I am sure you can adjust their med schedule. I cant do sat navs....so, so stressful. How did the vets feel? Did you meet molly?

When I've had issues with timing in the past, I've adjusted the timing slightly and got up during the night to make sure a dose wasn't missed. Not sure if that's something you can do, obviously it's not much fun but such are the things we do for our bunnies!

Thank you all, No J+B I didnt meet Molly.
I am up at 5am for the first lot of meds and the last one at 11pm.

I told you all I would have a meltdown and I am doing - I feel like I have broken both the trust either had in me. They run away from me now. Its so distressing. Kanga especially as I felt he was happy with me and would chose to come to me. Now he kicks and snorts. I do wrap him up and have tried all the methods for syringe med that youtube can offer. 5 more days of 5 lots of medication - they will be completely untrusting of me by then.
I work mondays over 2 medication times and tonight I worked over 1 - so late with paracetomal. Sorry just a bit much today.

Glad the op went well, but I'm sorry everybun's not feeling friendly. That stinks, especially since Pearl Grey let you do a bit of petting :/. I hope it all goes away when it's over. Do you have someone help hold the buns while you administer medicine? And do you give a treat after? Not a rabbit, I know, but when we had to give our tom medicine, I always started holding him with a treat and ended with another treat (usually the other half of the first one). And then I would sit in the area with him for five minutes and offer my hand as a sort of "sorry". I do a sort of open palm, let the bunnies sniff my fingers as a "sorry" after we're done with nails, so it might be worth a shot.

In that Guen bradbury book it explains how rabbits are not emotionally dependant on us so they are less forgiving when we break their trust. You had no choice in doing as you didnt want kanga living a lonely bunny life. I am sure they will learn to love and trust you again but i can imagine how sad you must feel

Just to say that I have never ever had a bunny which has not reacted in this way.

Mostly it is short term, as the meds are short term and the bunnies have quite soon realised when the threat is over and then have become friendly again. With one bunny, who needed long term Metacam for Arthritis, it had a different effect in that she became so used to being picked up, that she realised that it was OK after all and she actually became much more friendly and used to lick me after the meds.

Regarding giving meds for such bunnies, I find the best approach is to be very firm and keep to the same routine every time, even if you are tempted to try something different. They will get used to the procedure and whilst they may never become comfortable with it, it will allow them to recognise the signs of when it will be over and they can relax again. If you show that you are nervous about doing it, they will pick that up.

I think that they will continue to be unfriendly whilst you are giving the meds, but will soon return to how they were after a little while.

Thank you, J+B can you give me the name of that book please and thank you. Cinnabun14 I did groom Kanga after and it seemed to calm him.

Last day of Paracetomal today, just two more days of Metacam , back to Urmston on Tuesday afternoon.

Omi - I cant imagine me being licked - lol.

I have been really naughty and stopped giving it them with a syringe, they really love the pellets so I have been giving it on 10 pellets each time. They eat them straight away and then between they get the other foods. Both of them are so good at eating hay that has continued, fresh food not so good - they had a growing pot of corriander in with them on day one and both have only nibbled it. The Gpigs have been outside Kangas house almost with pitchforks demanding he shares

Both are fed up being on restricted space but Kanga came running for a stroke this morning.

There outside run should arrive next week so I have been having a lovely time telling them of bunny run enrichment I have seen on pinterest.
Thank you all for your support.
