• Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Male rabbit squeking

I've just found my 1y (nuetered )male rabbit, carlton, squeking as he tries to wee, not much came out I don't think but he's pooing eating and running about as normal. I've had him a few months and know the rescue I got him from fed a lot of kale and broccoli but he isn't bloated at all. I'm worried about bladder sludge/stones. My main issue is I felt around his penis to check if there was any sludge and it's kinda hard underneath, is that normal it's like a 5p size of hard, I've not yet checked before. There's no blood in his urine. He'll be getting checked at the vets but it may be Monday

I would get him to the vets before then, have you got an out of hours vet you could take him to. If he's squeaking he must be in pain

He needs to be seen by a Vet before Monday. He is obviously in pain and in need of analgesia. If he has a UTI he’ll need antibiotics. If he has bladder sludge/stones there’s a risk of him rupturing his bladder straining to wee as the urethra can become obstructed.

Please get him to a Vet today.

I hope you can get your boy to the vet today. . He is in pain and having difficulty passing urine so it is urgent he seen a vet.
Sending you and your bunny positive vibes.
