Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Lump under skin - middle upper tummy

How lovely he is able to see a top vet. It sounds like this is a huge weight lifted from you. Sending lots of vibes for a quick recovery and a future with a lucky friend (or fifty😀).

I would rescue every bunny if they'd all make happy loving bonds with fuzzy

We are on a farm and I know they'd get the best treatment

I've been looking at these two mainly

I absolutely love Autumns face especially with his wee head tilt, he just looks curious all the time
I remember when I rescued fuzzy, he was the runt of the litter and his head was so stupid he looked so stupid it was so big and fluffy and I just knew, I just knew I wanted that stupid headed, small bunny

I don't think anyone else would've taken him

Pic for stupid head tax

We are back from a successful 7 hour round trip on the train, neutering and lump removal

The vet had reccomended the neuter and the lump removal. I was in pieces but thankfully my boy was alright. She has saved the lump if we want a biopsy at a later date (funds pretty low right now) and seems happy in herself it's not malignant.

My question now is what do I do after the neuter/operation. I've swapped to puppy pads in the litter box and I've got critical care on standby as she isn't convinced he will eat. He's obviously very stressed as we left the house at 540am and we just got back at 620pm, he's shown no interest in greens and is in some strange hunch I've never seen before with his ears to the side just sleeping.
He has pain meds twice a day starting from 11pm today and I think I'm gonna critical care him in an hour or so. He hasn't peed or pooped since leaving the vets at 345 but we were on the train.

Just looking for some advice really just wanna do the best for him and this is my first time for both neutering and an operation and they came at the same time

Offer him some of his favourites to tempt him to eat. Dandelion leaves are usually popular. If he won't eat, definitely start with the CC every couple of hours tonight (until you go to bed) and see how he is tomorrow. He ought to be eating by himself by then - if not, continue the CC but offer him whatever he usually has as well. Keep an eye on his output (wee & poo). Ring the vet if he's not eating properly by tea time tomorrow.

He may need a warm spot tonight - he won't be able to regulate his temperature after the GA, so give him the option if he needs it. I tend to keep the carrier stuffed with hay / blankets and put a heat pad in, under the bedding - but leave the door open / off so that he can move about and choose his own comfy spot. I would pick softer hay for bedding & litter trays so that it isn't spikey on the wound areas.

Check his wounds daily and make sure they are clean and dry. You shouldn't need to do anything with them. Any sign of infection needs attention - ring your vet.

Have you got a follow up appointment? There's usually a wound check a few days after surgery. Sometimes they just ask you to contact them or send a photo of the area.

She's said I can do a video call but no time frame. How long should that be? Maybe Monday or something? I can just send some photos and go from there.

She glued his testicle so he won't bite any bits there but his wound looks kinda bad, it's got a bit of blood she said she double Stitched it so he shouldn't be able to get at it. I'm sure the blood is just dried from the stitching and hopefully not fresh. I'll re put the carrier out with blankets.

I gave him some critical care and put him in his litter box, he did 8 poops no pees. I've swapped the litter boxes out to puppy pads and placed the poops on them.

He was really difficult with the critical care and just held it in his mouth refusing to swallow so ill try him again later with it a bit more liquefied and a smaller syringe until he is upto eating. He has moved spots and is just sitting looking really sad. He perked up a bit when in the litter box but got sulky when I wouldn't let him jump out. He looked up when I called him but just looks really tired, I bet today took a lot out of him

Have you got any information about what pain relief he has had? If it was Buprenorphine/Vetergesic then it has quite a sedating effect for several hours and he won't therefore be moving around a lot.

I'm not really sure and I honestly didn't think to ask. She might have said but I was so overwhelmed at the start I wasn't overly focused

This is all we got

It cost more to neuter him than remove the lump which is wild
I think, from that invoice, that Fuzzy hasn't been given Buprenorphine, so I imagine that it's just the tiredness from the long day, plus of course he has had an operation.

Follow Shimmer's good advice and hopefully he'll be a lot brighter by the morning.

The castration cost will have included the general anaesthetic and associated costs if they are not itemised separately, and these can be considerable. The lump removal is basically an add on (a few minutes of surgery time and stitches) as the GA is already covered under the castration costs.

That makes sense
Does his wound look okay? I think it's a bit redder than when we left the vets but he doesn't seem phased by it. The vet has advised me to leave it tonight and send a pic tomorrow, possibly cleaning it with cooled boiler water on the scabbing. Obviously as my first does this look alright for a first day wound?

Thanks for answering all my questions

The wound looks OK. Just check daily. Taking a photo each time would be a good idea so you can see any changes. Look out for seepage, hot / red / swollen areas over the next few days. There will probably be a little swelling, but it should go down again. If it looks odd / wrong, let your vet know as you may need some antibiotics. It shouldn't pull on the stitches. For the castration, do the same checks. There can also be issues with swelling to the point it looks like he's not been 'done' - and that also needs a vet call just to check. They usually heal quite quickly.

He has glue on his testicles so how would I check that? Would they just be a bit swollen?

He's also started licking his removal wound 🫠🫠 I've ordered him a pet vest but it comes tomorrow. Is there anything I can do to discourage this that isn't staying up all night saying no

I was glad to read he did well with the anesthesia during the operation. He may have had some sedation before his procedure to make prep work easier and possibly allow for less anesthesia to be given.
Sending lots of positive vibes..

He was really happy until I put his shirt on. I ordered a small due to the weight, but I've had to re order a medium that comes Tuesday as I clearly didn't account for his fluff, and he looks like a poodle. Had to cut around the neck and front paws due to his fluff
He was really happy to take PM meds.
His wound looks okay today I've cleaned and dried it before I put the shirt on. He didn't like it being patted gently but we did it.

His stitches look good.Well done Fluffy! It is good he likes his pain meds. Sending vibes he continues to do well and will soon be 100% back to normal.
He looks cute even with his tiny shirt.

How is his eating, drinking, wee and poop?
