Hello everyone
Sadly our eight year old girl Snowy had to be PTS on Christmas Day, cancer
This has left our similarly aged eight year old boy Marlon very lonely. It is additionally very sad as we found Marlon some three years ago as a companion for Snowy after her bonded sibling Fudge died unexpectedly from stasis. However we have had to make the decision with my son going off to University later this year that our time with rabbits is coming to an end as opposed to finding another companion for Marlon and continuing the cycle. This of course leaves Marlon on his own and whilst we would happily look after Marlon for the remainder of his days we are acutely aware that he might have a good few years left in him, perhaps three or four or even more, all being well, and it breaks our hearts every day to see him so lonely.
So whilst we will very much miss him, we’ve made the decision it would be best for him to have a companion again. Hence our appeal on here if anyone is looking for an older outdoor companion for one of their own rabbits, perhaps in similarly sad circumstances?
A quick description prior to chatting … As you can see in the pictures Marlon is a fairly large rabbit, approx 2.7kg , tan with white belly. He is not especially cuddly but does enjoy having his head tickled whereupon he will drift off asleep sometimes, however he was a great companion for Snowy once they bonded, grooming each other every day and sticking close together as you can see in the pictures. Also as briefly mentioned, Marlon is an outdoor rabbit as was Snowy, living in a large hutch permanently connected by a tunnel system to a very large all weather run with a removable tarp roof so we hope to find a similar set up for him where he can enjoy hopping back and forth between the hutch and the run all day in all weathers should he choose. Ps he has been neutered.
If you are interested in knowing more please don’t hesitate to contact me, we’d love to see Marlon settled and happy again with a companion, all the best to everyone, Mark
update 25th May 2026 - Hi thanks everyone for your concern, we’ve found Marlon a lovely home with another similar age and size female. If it helps anyone we used a rabbit sanctuary called Fat Fluffs in the midlands who found a mate for Marlon, then you drop your rabbit into them and they do all the bonding and return the bonded pair to the forever home, they are brilliant. https://www.fatfluffs.
