Warren Veteran
Just popped Lilly to the vets (to her absolute disgust)
Got to see our usual vet who is very rabbit savvy and really lovely
She checked Lilly out fully, teeth are fine, she's lost 200g but is now an ideal weight rather than a little podgy  also before Logan came along I was trying to get her to be trimmer, plus she had a reduced appetite for a week after Harvey died
her lungs are completely clear too so if she has pasturella it's not currently a full blown infection, but as I now know they can carry it for years unaffected and then it can take hold when they're very stressed
Lilly is very fit and healthy though so it's unlikely to progress if she's carrying it
Lilly is a monkey though, she throws such tantrums at the vets, she HATES being examined, but she we stop she takes one hop away and sits down in a chilled stance, then washes and even lays down often, today she yawned within a minute of her being examined  the vet said she's not scared she's just being a little madam  I agree, she is stressed at the vets, but not that stressed really, she just likes things to go her own way!
I talked to this vet about Harvey and Logan, she really liked Harvey and didn't know he'd died (he died out of hours and she works 9-5) and was upset about him
she helped care for Logan all day yesterday and said she was really upset this morning when she got in and was told he'd died
she said she was so happy yesterday when he was looking better than the night before and was hopeful so was really upset he'd gone this morning
She is very sure that their deaths aren't related, her first thoughts about Harvey were liver torsion but then after I said it all happened in 2 hours and his blood tests were normal she thinks it was seizures like the other vet did and is glad Lilly has had Panacur, although has told me that I needed a longer course than what she had so I'll be giving Lilly more panacur from now for a couple of weeks. With Logan she thinks the same as the other vet said, an underlying mild infection exacerbated by stress
We also talked about how poor neglected rabbits end up living for ages in horrible circumstances and then the well cared for ones die suddenly
she pointed out that if she were a rabbit she'd rather a short life happy and well-cared for with me than in a horrible hutch at the end of the garden for years on end. I know she's right as well, I just wish Logan could have had more than 5 days of happiness with me
at least he had a few weeks happiness with his fosterer in RSPCA before then too
My poor boys though
