Little update on Maggie

Well the visit went really well, my only problem is I can't decide who would be a good match for Maggie! They're all similar ages to her, between sort of 6-18 months.

Rabbit number 1 - very outgoing, was described as being like a dog, loves being around people and just wants to be involved with everything. He sounds like such a character, my only concern is whether he's a bit too clever!

Rabbit number 2 - quite shy but calm, almost got eaten by a fox so can't blame him really. Lived with his brother who did sadly get eaten so has experience living with another rabbit.

Rabbit number 3 - also shy but quite keen to be involved in stuff, found in a carrier bag so not much known about him, so couldn't say if he will bond.

There was a pair of boys as well but I think I'm too nervous to have a trio, plus three lots of costs.

I think they all have their positives and that's why it's so difficult

Sometimes it's good to have a reasonable choice, but it does also make it that much more difficult. If I was looking for reasons not to choose one, I could say that No 2 has experienced trauma, which might, only might, impact his character. But then I could also think that about No 3. Depending on how long it was before he was found, being abandoned in a carrier bag must have been a bit scary. I presume that No 1 has no history of living with another bunny?

You haven't said which of the three appeals to you, rather than considering how easily he would fit in? Trios are fun, but sometimes one bunny gets left out.

All 3 sound lovely. A hard decision.
I'm quite close to Thornberry Animal Sanctuary near Worksop, Notts. I keep looking- they've got a few bonded pairs in, I'm very tempted but I'm still very sad & grieving for the 2 I've lost.
I hadn't heard of this rescue previously. What a selection of animals they've got, including as you say a few bonded pairs.

It's hard to know when the right time is when you've just recently lost bunnies. Take your time, whatever you do will be the right choice.

I was thinking that about the trauma side of things, the rescue lady said they are both coming out of their shells so hopefully they haven't been too traumatised by what they've been through. Just so many sad stories! Number 1 hasn't lived with a bunny to my knowledge.

They all appealed to me, number 1 had such a fantastic personality, but then again he has been there much longer than 2 and 3 so has had much more time to show his personality. I was able to go into all of their pens and feed them treats, they were all such gentle little souls. As I was driving home I suddenly felt drawn to 2 for some reason, wasn't sure why, but number 1 also reminds me of one of my bridge buns who was almost dog-like in her personality. The fact he's been there longer also made me feel guilty. They would all make fantastic pets for whoever adopts them that's for sure!

If you really aren’t sure which one to go for, how about going for the one that others are more likely to overlook for some reason?

You must be reasonably close to me, I’m near Sheffield. if you can get to Barnsley Animal Rescue BARC, the bunny section is brilliant, mostly based near jcn 36 M1 Boots, my soul bridge bunny was from there 😍

So number 1 has been there the longest (6 months ish), but he is the highest energy. I know that doesn't necessarily mean he wouldn't be a good match but I'm just not sure how that would go with Maggie's super chill personality. That said, when I adopted Rupert back in 2019 to bond with Lilac I knew nothing about his personality and didn't even question it, and that worked out fine. Maybe I am overthinking it?

I think I would try to work out which bunny would be the best match for Maggie, in the first instance because that is the most important thing here.

I think you're probably wondering if you're overthinking it because you have a choice of 3, all of which sound to be probably suitable. As Zoobec says, thinking about the best match for Maggie is probably the best way to decide. Gut feelings are also good for me.

I presume you could return the bunny if they just wouldn't bond?
