Just wanted to post a slightly happier thread than some of my recent ones and give everyone a little update on Maggie after Terry's loss. I would say she definitely noticed his absence initially, I tried to clean everything up with white vinegar to neutralise scents as I didn't want her to be confused and start looking for him.
She seems to be adjusting well to being a solo rabbit, and she's exceptionally calm, much more than I expected a young rabbit to be. She's very chilled out, and is currently under the sofa which is one of her favourite spots. She spends most of her day under there in between a bit of exploration and the obligatory baby zoomies. She's not allowed in the kitchen (safety reasons) or the bedroom (neutral zone), but she's free roam during the day.
Maggie is 17 weeks now so I'm waiting for her hormones to kick in and for her to be a bit more of a handful, but maybe it won't change her too much as she seems quite chilled out overall. The last time I had a young rabbit was about 12 years ago and she was an absolute handful at this age, digging up my carpet and chewing a massive hole in the sofa!
She's not massively into toys yet or vegetables, she likes forage and she also likes her snuffle mat.
We're going to the vet next month to see if she would be okay to be neutered, but there's no rush if we have to wait a bit longer. It wouldn't be fair to keep her alone for what will hopefully be a decade or so, so we will look to get her a friend when the time is right. For now she has company most days, I am only in the office twice a week. She seems to enjoy our company and is quite happy having strokes while she's lying down, although no kisses yet!
