Kanga's nuts and my total meltdown

Kanga is booked in at Urmston for the 4th March - 9.40am I wonder when my next meltdown will start

J+B - I had registered using the online thingy - it had not gone through so I had to re register today, just thinking about your Gerbil registration.

Your last meltdown was useful, you listened to your gut. There will be no need for a melt down this time.....he is gonna be with probably the best practicing bunny vet. If you want some company let me know....I don't work Weds

Thank you J+B I picked that date as OH is off and can navigate - I am happy driving but navigation is his thing.
If you need to go then by all means come with us but we are good.

Do bucks have to have a follow up appointment like men do or just 8 weeks and then free to meet others?

I have never had a boy neutered (they already been done) so I've no clue really. I guess he'll have stitches which he'll need out ? unless they use dissolvable ones? I'd get vet to confirm how long he'll remain fertile. I'm actually excited you are going to this practice. I think it'd be nice not to have to chase one part-time bunny savvy vet. They should all know their stuff

They use dissolvable ones so don't need removing, I've sometimes had a post op check after but sometimes not, it's usually pretty easy for male buns ime. I think 8 weeks is suggested to be sure they aren't fertile still

I would expect a post-op follow up after any operation - from a couple of days to a week afterwards. They need to check for swelling, pain and potential infection. There's not usually an issue with castration. Slight swelling soon settles. It the swelling makes it look like he's not been done, it needs assessing. Sometimes the vet is happy if you send in a pic of the affected area (which isn't always easy to get) if you think it's all OK, instead of travelling to an appointment. Boys often don't even realise anything has been done.

Thank you all for the answers, I have another question please, yesterday I needed to send a photo to my brother of Kanga's nether region. They look empty - I know this is revolting and I am sorry to ask but do un neutered boys look like they have empty sacks?

Will explain the photo on another thread - I promise I am not some weird funny woman.

Yea they do although I think the inside bit can also disappear inside them temporarily? Not sure if I'm making any sense there

I wonder if he's already neutered, might not be tho ofc, what temperature was it when they looked like that?

Oh Graciee thank you for answering, I was begining to wonder if I was some kind of weirdo looking intently at his nethers! The temperature was about 19 degrees - he is in the house.
I think as I dont know anything much about him I tend to panic - I used to be so calm and cool - then I had pets.

But Kanga was examined by the vet last week wasn't he and I think if he didn't look like a bunny, who was going to be neutered, then he would have commented?

Omi, the only bit not examined last week was that bit - oh dear have everyone talking testicals now!

Surely the vet checked that the right bits were there to be able to remove them?

Atticus used to lay across my chest splooted with his empty sacks in full view... I've spent lots of time with rabbit balls in my face now it's juet my cat Moggy.. He also seems to have empty sacks hanging about..the vet said they'd shrink.. They have however not done that

This is too much information but when my husband had a vasectomy the kids were really upset, not that he had been snipped but that the doctors had removed everything like the vet did on the dog! How do you explain to a 6 year old that no vets and doctors do different proceedures.
