• Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I need some help on a sluggish recovery from a mild GI stasis

Poo changes depending on the diet. A healthy rabbit eating grass rather than hay will have darker and less crumbly poo, and that's OK.

The vet mentioned something about Toffee's age, he is seven and it was funny because it just didn't cross my mind that he could be regarded as being old. My other one is over 13. I think I'm going to go on thinking that Toffee is young.

Reading such a lovely update and seeing his beautiful face was worth looking at bunny poo photos.
Thank you for explaining why weighing poo is not an accurate comparison. Your idea of taking poo photos is better than my counting poo or saving it in a plastic bag for comparison purposes.
Syringe feeding can be stressful for bunny and human. Toffee sounds like he knew you were helping him.
Sending vibes he will continue to do well.

I like the idea of saving it in plastic bags, I might do that in the future, or at least a sample so it's easy to see the change in size. Toffee has become a lot tamer! He was sitting right next to me last night.

these poo color is very average and it shows the GI tract is average at best. A good rabbit diet is compose of goldish color rabbit poo.

Agreed, those pictures are from when he was ill, though they were showing his improvement day by day. This was his poo once well. Though I'm taking Shimmer's point that it would be darker if he ate more grass (he isn't keen on it, the other one normally chomps through his bowls of grass).
