Heatwave

Bunnies seem fine...the heat doesn't stop them cuddling. I haven't taken them outside though as it feels too hot. Ivor & Oska are feeling it. I found one curled up asleep on top of the substrate which is a first & they are much less active. Yesterday I was working in the kitchen where the heat felt unreal. Off work today so can mooch round in my cold house (I find it upsettingly cold for 10 months of the year) & garden

My hamster used to.do that, suddenly he'd be sleeping in strange places sometimes upside down

Yes, that was the only good part about having hamsters in a heatwave - watching them sleeping outside their houses!

Heatwave..., and it's dry like I haven't seen before, parts of the meadow are crispy. And no real rain in sight. If the brook runs dry, which might happen in 2-3 weeks, I'll need to use the well for the vegetables, never had to do that.

I activated the bunnies AC, wich is just a computer fan and a duct blowing air from the cool crawlspace under the barn into the hutch, works fine.

the goats don’t seem bothered about the heat, although they have a lot of shade in the wood. Yoshi had a hurried haircut yesterday, he was very hot so I clipped him short and he was immediately so much happier!

I've explained it to her, she's in tears now saying he was the best pig and how will we see him again etc. It's sad because we only moved back here Sunday, so she's only just been feeding them all again since then and she really missed him coz he was really funny

So that's gone well...

Also said pigs are her favourite which isn't great coz I don't want more..

Oh bless her, it is so hard for little ones isnt it.

I'm in America, and it's not that hot here (barely spring tbh) so I'm wondering just how hot it is over there?

When it gets hot over here, I refrigerate a bathroom tile for our outdoor bunnies and let them lay on it, but they're not always interested

It reached just over 35 degrees C in the London area, which is a new record for May. It's always hottest in that area.

We had a very local humongous hail storm this morning. I nearly called work to say it looked to ouchy to leave the house fortunately it stopped 10 mins before my bus. 2 stops on there had be no hail at all so it only hit part of the village. I asked Google what the weather is like in Colne which is nearest town and it said right now it's 18 degrees and snowing . Wish I took photo of it coming down but all I managed was one of my path afterwards
