I think many of us can relate to rising vet costs. .I have insurance. I swear by pet insurance even if it's not that cheap it's better than an unexpected vet bill.

I'm worried about the capped prescription prices. Capped prices tend to become the only price. It basically means the cost of a prescription will now be £21 per item, making it much less cost effective to shop around.

The issue is about the big profit-driven conglomerates pushing not strictly necessary and add-on items. I'm not sure it helps the independent vets.

That's what my prescription charge has always been! Still cheaper than £55 per month for flea tab for freddles. I get 6 months for 21 + whatever vet UK is selling them for I can't remember off hand tbh.

I get the cats via the vets though, should probably get a prescription for them too tbh I haven't looked at costs of that really

I have the cats and dog insured, but I honestly don't know if it's worth it for me, it's my own stupidity really, but when Moggy hurt himself on Xmas day it cost like £500 I think for basically to be seen and get a painkiller but then after than I had xray, cts, ortho consults etc so was all in a few thousand, but the thing is, you have to pay it then claim it back.. So i just never got round to claiming it back which is so dumb same with Freddie, I've spent about 1000 so far and they want more tests bless him. I wish it was like medical insurance where you pay your excess and the company covers the rest, coz I'm just too scatty too get organised I should probably cancel their insurance

Vet bills at the place I go don't seem all over the place though tbh, they seem realistic to me. It's an independent vets, I'm really going to miss it when we have to move tbh!

I could claim for freddie's I suppose as that's still like happening rn but tbh Idk if I can be bothered. I do wonder if I should cancel the insurance really. But equally if a 5k+ bill appeared it'd be really nice to just pay the excess

I haven't used out of hours for years, actually 2018. I went without rabbits for a few years. Only had Bing and Bella bunny since then, now Teddy. Sadly Bings disability was too much.

The vets in my town are wildly different in price too. The consultation only at my old vets was £125 with this one is £55 - I cant compare medications though.
