Noticed last week that harley was a bit thin on the fur on the back of his neck, Have been away for the week and got back today and noticed more was missing, its really noticsble now when he steches his neck, Is it something i should be worried about it does not look sore and he is not bothered by it, any ideas??

Is it different from the average moult?

Does he have a bonded friend?

What does the skin look like underneath? Any redness? Dandruff?

Vaccinated recently? Like within the last 2 weeks or so?

yeah it is diffrent his back and bum are quite furry just back of his neck, Yeah he has a bonded friend she is fine, it does not look sore and there is no dandruff and not had any vac's recently

I was wondering if overgrooming may be an issue, or if one is humping the other and pulling out fur or something. Pics will sure help

Harley is normally the groomer, Honey doesnt really groom him much and if she does its for only like a second.

That looks a bit sore I think a vet trip is in order. I don't know what it is, sorry. Good luck.

Bungle went bald a few months ago. He lost the fur on the back of his neck and along his back near his bum. His was because he was getting his adult fur through (he is a cashmere lop) and so the old fur fell out.

Could it be mites? A vet can advise you..

I would suggest a vet trip to have it checked and ask about a mite treatment.

if it was mites would it affect Honey aswell? it looks redder on the pic than it is, the colour is the same all over. he is four so he's not getting his adult hair, booked in at the vets anyway so hopefully find out.

I have had mite prob in my guineau pigs and it didn't effect all of them. I would try giving him a ivomec parasite control, see how that goes possibly put a little sodocreme if looking sore ??

I'd head to the vets and get checked for mites or fleas, just in case. The skin just looks bald, not painful, but the photo isn't zoomed in enough to see.

If it's any consolation, Vin had a baldy patch in exactly the same place and it took forever to grow back...there was no particular reason for it, she just lost the fur.

did you ever find out what the problem was?? I have a similar sit with mine and the patch seems huge now!
