Girls still biting

Young Bun
Another advice request for our three, I'm afraid!

We have Merlin bonded with Halloumi and her daughter Enya. The whole time we have had the three of them, Halloumi will periodically go for Enya. It can sometimes be a light nip and sometimes a full on lunge-and-chase. It doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes, they can be perfectly peaceful and lay down next to each other, groom each other etc. Sometimes, Halloumi will be happily grooming Enya and then the grooming turns into a couple of face nips. If Enya doesn't do anything, Halloumi will then lunge at her. Very rarely, she may pull out a chunk of fur. And then, quite often, they will come together and groom or lay down.

I don't think Enya helps herself as I saw her bum-sniffing yesterday, to the point where even Merlin chased her off. But quite often, it doesn't look like Enya has done anything wrong. They have been with us for months without major issues, but obviously I am still a bit afraid it will devolve into fighting when we are not there! There are periods where there is little-to-no biting/chasing at all and sometimes it seems to happen often.

If it helps (it's probably relevant somewhere!) Enya is 6 months old. Halloumi was spayed on 17th April and Enya on 3rd July. It is currently 9th August.

I would keep an eye on them and see how they are in another month. It's not that long since Enya was neutered and she is still an adolescent in the eyes of her mum.

What do you mean? Adolescent females of all species get on fabulously well with their mothers! 😆

I did wonder if it was that kind of clash. Do rabbits tend to forget parent/child relationships eventually?

Sometimes it happens once baby bunnies grow up the mother &, or siblings will fight and they have to be separated.
They're not actually fighting though. Halloumi nips Enya and perhaps has a very short chase until she retreats. Then they can immediately go back to washing and being normal again! Enya has never bitten Halloumi. I did see Enya hump Halloumi this morning and Halloumi tolerated it and then retreated a short distance (first time I've ever seen her do that). I'm just not sure what it means.

Sometimes my bunnies will hump normally around feeding time, it might be they do that when they get excited.
