Flemish rabbit questions

I have just remembered - when Rups was with us each wire had to be put into an old hose pipe tube as they chewed wires for fun. My OH was once ironing his shirt for work when Susan (partner of Rupert) started to chew through the iron wire!

Would a rabbit "eat" plastic like a hamster would as well?

Some would, so anything you want to keep shouldn't be kept around rabbits 😆 My mom says our flemish didn't chew until she decided to chew on like doll clothes and house plants.

My rabbit Izzy didn't chew, so I was a bit careless about cords. Then one day he suddenly developed a liking to cords and I discovered every one in my room had chew marks. He also chewed a small hole on the plastic baby gate (I think that was his way of expressing frustration that I put a gate on the door so he couldn't escape anymore lol). Other than that, he wasn't a chewer.

I had quite a few bunnies that were super good about not chewing but it really just depends, and I generally didn't leave down things that they might have liked e.g. clothes, shoes, books, so who knows if they might've chewed more if I gave them some tasty opportunities. I feel like plastic wouldn't have been high on their list to chew though. They did have plastic litter/hay trays and toys to throw around that they didn't chew on.

Rabbits can chew holes in / shred / eat just about anything in a household situation - carpet, wallpaper, plasterwork, furniture legs, doors, skirting boards, soft furnishings, cables, books, paperwork, boxes, toys....

Basically, if you have a house rabbit, keep anything you value well out of their way. Don't forget that they can jump, sometimes up to 4' - on to chairs, tables, windowsills, etc, which gives them access to a whole range of other chewables. :ROFLMAO:

Yes,
Pearl loves digging and chewing carpet.
Kanga likes chewing all fabric except fleece!
Susan she loved paper
Cuthbert love shoes and particulary wellies.
Rupert loved wallpaper - but only in the dining room.
Dillon he liked wall corners ? plasterboard?

As I understand they need to chew to keep their teeth in tip top condition so hay and sticks is a necessary.
